Historical Beer Night!

On Saturday night in the name of science, we had an historic historical beer night. I was joined by two good friends, Andy and Mark, who agreed to take part in this very serious archaeological experiment.

We drank our way through some Traditional Ale and English Best Bitter, followed by some Heather Ale and finally some Yarrow Ale. The evening finished with some home made whiskey. All went well, the drinking being interspersed with some fierce games of air hockey, followed by 3D PS3 gaming, and then a 3D movie.

The recipes used were very similar to those listed on this blog except I encouraged more fermentation from the wild yeasts present. I think they all turned out pretty good. Thanks to both guys for coming along and here's a few snippets of Mark's comments!

YARROW ALE "...a decent beer with clout. Smooth, fruity and dark."

HEATHER ALE "...Light and fruity, you could really taste the heather and the honey. A delicious pint which I'd actually buy if it were bottled and sold..."

HOME MADE WHISKEY "Surprisingly smooth with an oaky flavour not unlike Jack Daniels..."
